After an unwanted hiatus, the Betfred Rugby Super League recommenced on Sunday 2nd August. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, no spectators have been allowed to attend the games but that hasn’t stopped St Helens RFC from putting on a show. A convincing 34 – 6 win over Catalan Dragons was soon followed by an even more emphatic 48 – 0 win over Leeds Rhinos. St Helens RFC will now face Castleford Tigers at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday 16th August. As principal partners, everyone here at Totally Wicked is hoping Saints can make it three wins on the bounce.
This won’t be the only Super league fixture held in St Helens this weekend. It was decided by the Super League that for the safety and wellbeing of all involved, each round of fixtures would be held at a single venue, for at least the first few weeks of the season’s return. The Totally Wicked Stadium has the honours to host round 9 of fixtures this weekend, on August 15th and August 16th.
All four fixtures will be aired live on Sky Sports as Wakefield Trinity face Catalan Dragons, Huddersfield Giants play Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors go head to head with Leeds Rhinos. Although the games are being played behind closed doors, it’s great to see the Super League back in full flow and all fixtures being televised. Seeing not only Saints but all eight Super League teams play live on Sky Sports from the Totally Wicked Stadium, will be a proud moment for Totally Wicked.
The Totally Wicked Stadium has also been selected to host three fixtures in next year’s Men’s Rugby League World Cup. The tournament will be held at venues all across England towards the back end of 2021, running from October 23rd until November 27th. The Totally Wicked Stadium will be host to three group stage matches as the top 16 teams on the planet go head to head on the biggest stage.
St Helens RFC’s stadium has been named the Totally Wicked Stadium since 2016, after Totally Wicked secured the naming rights. Since then, we have seen Saints crowned Super League Champions once and lift the League the League Leader’s twice.
The Partnership is now in its eighth year. The deal began in 2013 with Totally Wicked’s sponsorship of the North Stand. The partnership continues to go from strength to strength and we look forward to working with Saints for years to come.
